You are surrounded by 15 acres of preserved Atlantic Rainforest, an extremely private atmosphere blessed with a prime beach spot protected by coral reefs that creates beautiful pools of tropical fish at low tide and offers transparent calm waters.

The nature around you has 96 different tree species, all marked with their names and plant families, home to sagui and guigo monkeys, sloths, green Brazilian parrots and countless bird varieties including fishing eagles and owls and butterflies in infinite varieties. The small percentage of the land which was originally deforested was replanted with fruits and palms attracting even more birds (parrots) and monkeys, whose calls and songs lend strongly to the very distinct, tropical atmosphere and is a wonderful example of a form of audio landscaping.

The project mission is to create a small series of 3 unique houses named by color with minimal impact on the sanctuary of nature, and evolving over a short-time into an almost self-sufficient community by introducing to the existing flora additional fruit trees as well as vegetables and edible wild plants to go with other foraging riches, and introducing also a collection of rare palm trees carefully planted in the few areas that had previously been deforested.

The vast majority of the property remains green and protected while only about about 15 - 20% of the land had been cleared some time in the past 

Even the team of builders and craftsman are hand-selected, long-time collaborators from local families who we know are invested in passing artisanal knowledge and traditions from one generation to the next. This particular team we have kept largely intact and working constantly for the past seven years.

Surrounded by 96 different tree species sits a small clearing in the trees, home to the 3 exclusive Maré casas and Mesa Maré, restaurant run by Renata Buin chef serving lunch with a daily changing menu based on fresh options from the sea, local producers, UXUA Roça farm and Maré’s own garden.

Private beach pergolas right at the sand are serviced by a wooden beach bar carved from a fallen pequi tree that serves tropical drinks and snacks. All beach structures are nestled within preserved native vegetation which provides not only beauty, but natural shade and refreshingly cooler temperatures than meters away on the sand.

Each suite has its own safe. We ask for your care not to lose the key as its replacement cost is R$ 300.

AIR CONDITIONING

You can adjust the temperature and direction of your air-conditioner using the remote control. Out of consideration for the environment and better cooling, we suggest keeping doors closed when operating the A/C and turning it off when leaving your casa.

LAUNDRY

All bedrooms have a laundry basket which is collected daily and items are delivered washed and ironed up to 48 hours later. If you have urgency for a particular item please let us know
